I am 20 years old, 5′9-5′10 and about 212 pounds.

I started to go to the gym about a week and a half ago. I usually try to go 4-5 days a week. I do 30-45 minutes of cardio ( bike, tredmil, or elliptical.) then i do 15-20 minutes of machines, i work my arms abs and legs.

I need help with what i should eat and if that is enough of a work out. I dont have a time frame of when i wanna loose but id like to see results soon maybe loose 10 pounds or go down a size in a month. Sometimes i take quick trim to boost my workout . Also take fish oil & a drink to get my vitemins.

Food usually goes like this:

I give myself 1 day or 2 days each week to just kinda have a treat or eat out.

Breakfast: Usually eat a fiber bar or cereal type bar. Maybe fruit if i am really hungry.
Sometimes ill have nutella on weat bread or yogurt and granola or special k cereal. it varies.

I drink all water, some tea or ice coffee (sometimes)

For lunch i either have a sandwich or salad with chicken if im really hungry. Or I have a cup of apple sauce and some hummus and crackers

then for dinner i either eat veggies and a meat or i replace dinner with a lean cuisine meal

i try to replace one meal a day with a lean cuisine or healthy choice meal.

for snacks i try to eat a handful of almonds or some 100 calorie popcorn or snacks.

any suggestions?

I’m 34 years old, 5 ft 10, and pushing 250 lbs. I’ve made the decision to lose weight for my health’s sake. This is one day of my diet/exercise. Every day is almost identical. I will lose weight consistantly for the first couple of weeks, sometimes up to 7 lbs a week. Then, I would expect it to slow down, not just stop. But it DOES just stop. I continue to eat well, I exercise, but I don’t lose any more weight. That discourages me, and I give up, only to stress/emotional eat and gain those 14 lbs back. What can I do to stop hitting this stupid plateau?

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs
2 slices turkey bacon
10 oz 2% milk

Snack:
1 med. banana

Lunch: 4 oz. boneless skinless chicken breast, baked.
1 cup mixed green salad
1 roma tomato
1/2 cup cottage cheese

Snack:2 cups lite popcorn (microwave)

Dinner:
4 oz pork chops
1 cup mixed green salad
1 corn on cob
10 oz 2% milk

4 16 oz bottles of water/day

Exercise:

2 miles on treadmill @ 3.5 mph
7 miles on stationary bike, tension set at 7
Spinal Erector: 4 sets-15 reps 156 lbs
Leg press: 4 sets-20,16,15,14 reps 96 lbs
Incline Press: 4 sets-20,15,12,10 reps 48 lbs
Abdominal machine: 4 sets-20,20,15,15 reps 144 lbs
Casual swimming x 1 hour (with a toddler)
I work out 5 days a week, with Sundays and Wednesdays off.
I do keep very detailed records of my intake. Including time the time i eat, and how I felt at the time (stressed, sleepy, etc.) I do the same with my exercise. I’ve been doing a 1600 Calorie plan, and following Weight Watchers points as well (I make sure I don’t consume more than 1600 calories or 35 points, whichever comes first.) My BMR is 1907. I hit my target heart rate (115) while on the treadmill, and stay in that area till I’m done with the bike.

I do have a heart condition, Supraventricular tachycardia, which I take a beta blocker for. That is my only serious medical condition. I have sciatica and knee issues (since childhood, before weight gain) that I take tylenol and advil for.

i quit coffee about 7 months ago and i am still fighting strong cravings for the taste. some days i just want to drink it for the sheer novelty of DOING it simply because its been so long! i was into it hardcore for two years, i only had two 12 oz cups a day and sometimes i would make a latte or a cappa. i roasted my own and got VERY good at that aspect of it to the point that i would say i was an expert master roaster of sorts…ok, just in my general area, i was the best fresh bean connoisseur in town exerpt for one small cafe. i would order green coffee off the net from almost everywhere and stick it in an old (70s) popcorn popper called the WestBend Poppery I, which was controlled by hand with a variac for the heating element and one for the fan pressure. i would monitor the temperature of the bean mass and make changes according to spikes in heat cause by first and second "crack"-the beans will pop like popcorn twice during a dark roast or just once for a light roast-and then i would let them "rest" for a few days in an air tight jar, after that i would grind every bean fresh just seconds before brewing. i even made my own two boiler espresso machine and used a very high quality hand grinder to get an extremely fine yet consistent grind and tamp it into the "porta-filter" of the espresso machine with the same pressure every time. and everything else technical and scientific to do with the entire process of making the finest coffee i could. and i mean really good coffee, ambrosia! especially shots, they were general very smooth and much less bitter than anywhere else i could find the stuff-sometimes quite sweet. and i didn’t even have very good machines and i was able to "pull" that kind of shot!

you get the picture. i was into coffee for every other reason than for the caffeine…. i REALLY wish i had only been into it for the "buzz". but the fact is coffee actually made me have less energy, but it was way worth it for the pleasure of taste. so now im faced with what looks like a life of suffering lol cuz i cant stop wanting coffee!!

i broke today and had a cup of ‘nasty’ coffee at work from the vender. i would have never even thought of drinking that swill 7 months ago, but after so long i have sort of forgotten the taste of the "super coffee" i use to make, i think mentally i have tried to push out that sensory memory as i have been trying really hard not to drink it again. i was hoping to be free of a lot longer than 7 months, and one would think that’s not too hard. but im just really weak when it comes to "harmless pleasures". but at the same time i really don’t like the idea of being tied to something anymore, i want to be able to go though life ready for whatever happens without having to say "oh my god, where am i going to find a good cup of of coffee in this town?!!"
yea, i quit for health reasons, and by the way, the health benefits are far outweighed by the toxifying effect this highly acidic beverage has on the body. coffee has a ph of 4! thats only slightly better than soda. a normal blood ph is about 7.3. but yes, i think im willing to possibly drink it once or twice a week. but its also a moral issue. i would respect myself a little less for not having the self control to avoid something this small and menial, what am i if i cant even control a simple craving?! im very weak thats what. hard on myself?? maybe. but i dont know. another major thing is that drinking coffee is a direct contradiction to my resent drastic change in diet. i am 90% vegan and about 30% raw.(also for health reasons only, not for animal rights) so this means that the majority of what i eat is whole, fresh, living, organic, alkalizing, detoxifying food. long list hu? and coffee is the opposite of all this. not that it would make my efforts to eat cleaner that much less va

Nobody owned a purebred dog?

When a quarter was a decent allowance?

You’d reach into a muddy gutter for a penny?

Your Mom wore nylons that came in two pieces?

All your male teachers wore neckties and female
teachers had

their hair done every day and wore high heels?

You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and gas
pumped,

without asking, all for free, every time?

And you didn’t pay for air? And, you got trading
stamps to boot?

Laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels
hidden inside the box?

It was considered a great privilege to be taken out
to dinner

at a real restaurant with your parents?

They threatened to keep kids back a grade if they
failed. . ..and they did?

When a 57 Chevy was everyone’s dream car…to cruise,

peel out, lay rubber or watch submarine races, and
people went steady?

No one ever asked where the car keys were

because they were always in the car,

in the ignition, and the doors were never locked?

Lying on your back in the grass with your friends

and saying things like, That cloud looks like a …

and playing baseball with no adults to help kids with
the rules of the game?

Stuff from the store came without safety caps and
hermetic seals

because no one had yet tried to poison a perfect
stranger?

And with all our progress, don’t you just wish, just
once,

you could slip back in time and savor the slower
pace,

and share it with the children of today?

When being sent to the principal’s office was nothing

compared to the fate that awaited the student at
home?

Basically we were in fear for our lives,

but it wasn’t because of drive-by shootings, drugs,
gangs, etc.

Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger
threat!

But we survived because their love was greater than
the threat.

Send this on to someone who can still remember

Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, Laurel and Hardy,

Howdy Dowdy and the Peanut Gallery,

the Lone Ranger, The Shadow Knows,

Nellie Bell, Roy and Dale, Trigger and Buttermilk.

As well as summers filled with bike rides, baseball
games,

Hula Hoops, bowling and visits to the pool,

and eating Kool-Aid powder with sugar.

Didn’t that feel good, just to go back and say,
Yeah, I remember that?

I am sharing this with you today

because it ended with a double dog dare to pass it on.

To remember what a double dog dare is, read on.

And remember that the perfect age is somewhere between

old enough to know better and too young to care.

How many of these do you remember?

Candy cigarettes

Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water
inside

Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles

Coffee shops with tableside jukeboxes

Blackjack, Clove and Teaberry chewing gum

Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard
stoppers

Newsreels before the movie

P.F. Fliers

Telephone numbers with a word prefix….(Temple
4-601).

Party lines

Peashooters

Howdy Dowdy

45 RPM records

Green Stamps

Hi-Fi’s

Metal ice cubes trays with levers

Mimeograph paper

Beanie and Cecil

Roller-skate keys

Cork pop guns

Drive ins

Studebakers

Washtub wringers

The Fuller Brush Man

Reel-To-Reel tape recorders

Tinkertoys

Erector Sets

The Fort Apache Play Set

Lincoln Logs

15 cent McDonald hamburgers

5 cent packs of baseball cards -

with that awful pink slab of bubble gum

Penny candy

35 cent a gallon gasoline

Jiffy Pop popcorn

Do you remember a time when…

Decisions were made by going eeny-meeny-miney-moe?

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, Do
Over!?

Race issue meant arguing about who ran the fastest?

Catching the fireflies could happily occupy an entire
evening?

It wasn’t odd to have two or three Best Friends?

The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex
was cooties?

Having a weapon in school meant being caught with a
slingshot?

A foot of snow was a dream come true?

Saturday morning cartoons weren’t 30-minute
commercials for action figures?

Oly-oly-oxen-free made perfect sense?

Spinning around, getting dizzy, and falling down was
cause for giggles?

The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a
team?

War was a card game?

Baseball cards in the spokes transformed any bike into
a motorcycle?

Taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable aspirin?

Water balloons were the ultimate weapon?

If you can remember most or all of these, then you
have lived!!!!!!!

Pass this on to anyone who may need a break from

their grown-up life . . .

it isn’t for watching a movie – it’s just as a short snack – so they get to watch it come out of the machine and pick the topping etc.
